Convert Radio To Mp3

Traditional radio that you listen to from your stereo receiver or boom box can be recorded onto your computer and converted to MP3 files. You can even connect the audio from a satellite receiver to record digital radio. This can be done by first connecting a radio or stereo receiver to your computer. You then need to use audio recording program, such as Audacity, to record and then convert the audio to an MP3 file.

Instructions

1. Download and install the Audacity audio recording program on your system (see Resources). Save the setup file to a location such as your desktop. Double-click on the file to install the program on your system.

2. Download the Lame MP3 Encoder to use with the Audacity program (see Resources). Repeat Step 1 to save and then install the file.

3. Connect the RCA jacks of the mini jack to RCA adapter to the line-out on your stereo receiver and the other end to the line-in on your computer's sound card or on-board audio.

4. Locate the station that you want to listen to on your stereo receiver and make sure you can hear the audio through your desktop speakers.

5. Double click on the Audacity icon on your desktop to open the program.

6. Click the record button in the program to start recording the audio. The record button is the icon with the red circle.

7. Click the stop button when you want to stop recording the audio. The stop button is the icon with the yellow square.

8. Click on File and choose Export from the drop-down menu.

9. Select the location for the Lame MP3 Encoder on your system if prompted by the program to do so.

10. Provide a name for the MP3 and then select a location to save the file.

11. Click the "Save" button to convert the radio recording to an MP3 file.
