Home windows Media Player Has Run Out Of Sync

Restore Windows Media Player's audio/video sync by adjusting its settings.

Windows Media Player is the primary multimedia player for Windows operating systems. When the audio is out of sync with the video, viewing media can become aggravating. However, you can perform a number of small procedures to restore Windows Media Player's performance. The settings configuration and outdated codecs are possible causes of Windows Media Player's malfunctioning.

Instructions

1. Open Windows Media Player.

2. Click "Tools" and click "Options.''

3. Open the "Performance" tab. Ensure that a check is next to the "Drop frames to keep audio and video synchronized" and "Turn on DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV files" options.

4. Click "Apply" and click "OK." Restart Windows Media Player and open a video file. Ensure that the audio and video are in sync.

5. Click "Help" and click "Check for Updates."

6. Install the updates if your Windows Media Player is outdated.
