Perform Accept An Ipod device

You can connect your iPod to a soundboard in a couple different ways.

If you want to perform live with an iPod, you will need the right adapters to plug into the soundboard. You can attach the iPod to the soundboard through either the headphone jack, which is less expensive, or through the docking connector at the base of your iPod, which costs around $30 as of 2010. Be sure to have a soundperson at the board if you are playing more than one track on your iPod as iPods have different levels for different songs and the speakers can blow if the volume on the iPod gets too high.

Instructions

Performing Live with an iPod Using the Headphone Jack

1. Plug the one-eighth-inch to RCA adapter into the iPod through the headphone jack. Look at the soundboard. If it has RCA inputs, plug the cable into the RCA jacks. If it doesn't, attach the male one-fourth-inch to RCA adapters onto the RCA ends and plug the one-fourth-inch ends into two different tracks on the soundboard.

2. Turn the gain down on the two tracks and put the faders at zero. Hard pan the two tracks left and right for stereo sound.

3. Play the iPod with the iPod volume down somewhat low. Slowly turn up the gain knobs until you have a good level.

Performing Live with an iPod Using the Docking Connector

4. Plug the docking connector into the iPod's docking port. If the soundboard has RCA inputs, plug the RCA ends into the RCA inputs. If the soundboard doesn't have RCA inputs, attach the one-fourth-inch to RCA adapters onto the RCA ends. Plug these into two separate tracks.

5. Turn the gain down on the two tracks and set the faders to zero. Pan the tracks hard left and hard right for stereo sound.

6. Play the iPod with the volume somewhat low. Slowly turn up the gain knobs until you have a good sound and level.
