Introduced in 2004, Philips GoGear is a line of personal electronic devices that are hard-drive and flash based. The GoGear line includes both personal music devices and digital cameras. Although Philips offers an extensive line of products, they are are not without problems. Problems related to design, performance and price are frequent among both its MP3 players and cameras.
GoGear Key010
Launched in 2004, the GoGear Key010 is a digital camera designed to fit on a keychain. Despite the convenience factor, the Key010 suffers due to its lack of a memory and an expansion slot. The camera's 128 MB of memory is not a lot considering its price. The camera also does not come with a flash feature, which makes indoor shooting nearly impossible.
GoGear HDD6330 Jukebox
Introduced in 2005, the GoGear HDD6330 Jukebox is a personal MP3 player with a touch-sensitive interface, FM tuner, voice recorder and 30GB of memory. CNET indicates that the HDD6330's controls are difficult to use because of the location of the buttons. The buttons are so spread out that is necessary to operate the device with two hands. The front of the device is prone to getting smudges and fingerprints on it as well. Additionally, the battery is not user-replaceable.
Philips GoGear Vibe
Released in 2009, the GoGear Vibe is a 4GB MP3 player with music, video, picture and voice recording capabilities. Despite the Vibe's affordability, it suffers from design and navigation problems. CNET indicated that the Vibe's navigation pad is poorly designed and confusing. In order to skip forward in a song you must press the down button, which may confuse users. CNET also indicates that the Vibe's screen suffers from poor resolution, which is slightly to be expected due to the price.
Philips GoGear SA6025
Introduced in 2007, the GoGear SA6025 is a 2GB flash player with music, photo, video and voice recording capabilities. CNET reports that although SA6025's controls are easy to use they feel cheaply made. Additionally, there is no album-art support feature. CNET also indicated that songs with a heavy bass sound distorted, while other music sounds flat.
