Put Music Towards The 18 Wheels Game

SCS Software's 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal is a trucking simulation game for Windows 98, ME and XP. You can add your own custom music to the game by using raw audio files in the WAV format or by encoding music files into the OGG format. You can use Windows Media Player to rip WAV files, but you will need to download another audio ripper for OGG files. Once you have ripped and encoded the music tracks, you must then insert the files into the 18 Wheels directory and manually configure the game to play the tracks.

Instructions

Rip Music to Disk (WAV Format)

1. Insert a music CD into your CD or DVD player. Close the Auto-Play window, if applicable.

2. Click "Start." Type "Windows Media" in the "Start Search" box.

3. Click the arrow button immediately beneath the "Rip" button in the menu bar. Hover your mouse cursor over "Format" and select "WAV (Lossless)."

4. Click the arrow again. Choose "More Options." Click the "Change" button next to "Rip Music to this Location." Browse to "My Documents\usr\18 WoS Pedal to the Metal\Music."

5. Select the tracks you would like to rip. When ready to rip, press the "Start Rip" button.

6. Repeat this process for each CD that contains tracks you want to play on 18 Wheels. Close Windows Media Player when finished.

Rip Music to Disk (OGG Format)

7. Download Winamp. Install the program by double-clicking it. Download and install the OGG Vorbis encoder (see link in Resources).

8. Insert a music CD into your CD or DVD player. Close the Auto-Play window, if applicable. Click on the "Start" button. In the "Start Search" field, type "Winamp."

9. Click "Winamp" to launch it. Select "Options" in the Winamp toolbar and choose "Preferences." Find "Media Library." Click "CD Ripping" in the Media Library section.

10. Click the "Encoder" tab. Select "Ogg Vorbis Encoder v1.1.0" under "Encoding Format." Select the desired bit rate for the ripped files by adjusting the slider.

11. Click the "Output File Settings" tab. Browse to "My Documents\usr\18 WoS Pedal to the Metal\Music" for the destination folder setting. Set the file naming convention you would prefer for the tracks. Click the "Close" button when finished. Click "View" in the menu bar. Choose "Media Library."

12. In the left column of the Media Library, scroll to your CD or DVD player. Right-click on it, then left-click on "Rip Audio CD."

13. Repeat this process for each CD that contains tracks you want to play on 18 Wheels. Close Winamp when finished.

Configure the 18 Wheels Jukebox

14. Start the 18 Wheels game. Press the "J" key, once the game has loaded.

15. Look through your Jukebox tracks, and select the first song you'd like to hear.

16. Click the "Play" button. Close the Jukebox.
