Share Music On Itunes

Enable music sharing using iTunes.

ITunes provides the ability to share music with other users on a local network. To enable Home Sharing, you need iTunes 9 installed on your computer, an iTunes account and a local network connection. Home Sharing lets you transfer music, videos and other files among multiple computers on a local network (up to five). Once enabled, you can stream any shared files and import the content to your own library.

Instructions

1. Open iTunes on your computer.

2. Click the "Home Sharing" under the "Share" list on the left-hand side. If you don't see the icon, click the "Advanced" menu, and select "Turn On Home Sharing."

3. Enter your iTunes Store account name and password. Click "Create Home Share."

4. Repeat step 3 on all the computers with which you want to share. Enter the same account information on each computer.

5. Click the Home Share icon you want to connect to. Each will be listed under "Share." View all the music and other files for the Home Share library.

6. Double-click a file to listen to a song. Transfer Home Share files to your library by selecting specific songs. Drag the files to your library, or click the "Import" button at the bottom of the screen.

7. Set iTunes to import iTunes purchases from a Home Share computer. Select the Home Share from which you want to transfer the files. Click "Settings" at the bottom of the screen. Select the types of content you want to transfer---for example, music, movies and TV shows. Click "OK." This will automatically transfer new iTunes purchases from that Home Share's computer to your iTunes library.
