The Archos 605 is a portable music and video player. Although you can use the system's Wi-Fi capability to download music or videos to the device, you can also add files that are already on your computer. One way to do this is by syncing the device with Windows Media Player, the only audio program that supports synchronization with the Archos 605.
Instructions
1. Turn your 605 on. Plug the USB cable into the device. Insert the opposite end of the USB cable into your computer's USB port. This port is found either on the front or rear of the tower, or on the side for laptops.
2. Open Windows Media Player. Click "Help," then "About," to determine which version of Windows Media Player you have. If it's not version 10 or higher, you'll need to download the latest version to sync with your Archos 605.
3. Click on the upper-tab labeled "Sync." This brings you to the sync menu. You'll see your Archos 605 in the upper-right corner.
4. Select the videos, music or photos you want to sync to your Archos 605. Click on the check box next to the file name to add it to the list. After each addition, the file will appear underneath the device, in the right-side bar.
5. Click "Start Sync" to begin the synchronization process. When the synchronization process is complete, you will be notified. Close Windows Media Player. Right-click on the green arrow in your lower-right corner taskbar. Select "Safely Remove." Wait for the prompt to unplug your Archos 605 from the computer.
