While iTunes is optimized to synchronize with iPods, iPhones and iPads, many users also use the software as their multimedia libray. If you have a phone or MP3 player that is not produced by Apple then you may want to sync it in iTunes, like you would an iPhone. In this instance you need a third party application. There are currently two applications that both offer the same capabilities to use non-Apple devices in iTunes. These applications are iTunes Sync and iTunes Agent.
Instructions
iTunes Sync
1. Close iTunes, then download and install iTunes Sync (see Resources).
2. Right-click the iTunes Sync icon in the system tray and click "Configure Devices."
3. Connect your Motorola phone via USB to your computer. Select "USB Storage" mode if prompted.
4. Select the Motorola phone in the device list and click "Add." Enter a name for your device, and choose the subfolder on your phone where you want the music stored. Select a folder structure if you wish.
5. Choose the iTunes playlists you want to sync. You can select multiple playlists if possible.
6. Click "Save." Right-click the iTunes Sync system tray icon and click "Synchronize Device."
iTunes Agent
7. Close iTunes. Download and install iTunes Agent (see Resources).
8. Right-click iTunes Agent in the system tray and click "Preferences." Click "New." Connect your Motorola phone via USB to your computer. Select "USB Storage" mode if prompted.
9. Select "iTunes" from the "Synchronize pattern" drop-down list. Click "Choose" then locate your music folder on your Motorola phone. Click "Save."
10. Open iTunes. Click and drag music to the "Motorola" iTunes playlist.
11. Right-click iTunes Agent and click "Sync."
