Connect a PSP to Windows Media Player 11
PlayStation Portable owners who want to add additional media to their device can do so by locating files and dragging them onto a PSP that is connected to their computer. Gamers who house their music and video content in Windows Media 11 can choose to connect their PSP to the Media 11 software and sync files in a way that is similar to syncing iTunes to an iPod. Using a USB cable, the PSP is connected to your computer where Windows Media 11 detects the device and allows files to be transferred between the two.
Instructions
1. Launch the Windows Media 11 program on your computer. If you do not already have Windows Media 11, you can download it from Microsoft's website.
2. Insert a Memory Stick Pro Duo into your PSP. This will allow you to move music and other media from Windows Media 11 onto your hand-held device.
3. Power on the PSP and attach it to a USB connector cable. Attach the other end of the cable to your computer through a USB slot.
4. Scroll to the left on the PSP cross media bar and select "Settings." Scroll down to "USB Connection" and press "X."
5. Select "Cancel" on your computer when Windows Media 11 prompts you to sync your library onto the PSP.
6. Search the left menu on Windows Media 11 for the folder listed as "PSP." This will contain any files currently on your PSP console.
7. Select files from your Windows Media 11 library and drag them to the PSP icon. Drop the files onto the icon to create a sync list for the PSP. The list will appear on the right side of the Windows Media 11 display.
8. Click "Start Sync" from the bottom right of the window when you have finished selecting files. Windows Media 11 will transfer your selected files onto your PSP's memory stick.
9. Wait for the files to sync. The transfer status will be displayed in the center window of Windows Media 11.
10. Disconnect your PSP from the USB connector cable. Your files will be located on the PSP under the "Music," "Photo," and "Video" headings.
