Decorate A Welsh Pub

Dart boards are often seen in pubs.

A pub is a place where alcoholic beverages are sold, often with an Old World influence to the decor. Giving it a Welsh atmosphere involves decorating to reflect the history and culture of Wales in Great Britain. Pubs with a Welsh influence are often dark, cozy and reflect a sense of pride in the principality. Create an establishment that feels inviting and relaxing to make a success of your pub. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Set distressed wood tables and chairs around the Welsh pub. This gives it an Old World atmosphere. Invest in heavy bar stools with dark leather seat coverings. Also, incorporate dark wood tones by laying a hardwood floor and using wood beams in the ceiling.

2. Paint the walls in a warm color such as a deep gold, sage green or amber shade to give it a European-inspired look. Pubs often allow smoking in the establishment and the walls won't show the nicotine as quickly with these deep shades.

3. Hang flags of Wales on the walls to impart a Welsh ambiance. The flag is green and white with a red dragon in the center. Pictures of fox hunts, people enjoying polo, the Wales countryside or hunting dogs add a Welsh charm to the room.

4. Pay homage to the Queen by hanging a picture of her, using coasters with the coat of arms or beer steins or other beverage glasses with her likeness.

5. Display sports memorable on the bar, walls, even on the doors to the loo. As with all establishments where liquor is served, customers enjoy seeing sports-themed decor.

6. Invest in a pool table, an old-fashioned jukebox and a dart board for the wall to keep the customers entertained.

7. Hang pub lights above the pool table and in other areas of the room. They come in many different sizes and often advertise brands of liquor or sports teams.

8. Install wall sconces to light corners of the room or dark hallways leading to the loo. Pubs don't require bright lighting, but dim lighting prevents accidents, particularly when customers are inebriated.

9. Hang a clock on the area behind the bar. This alerts customers to happy hour and closing time.
