How Put More Tunes On My Small Music Player

An MP3 player allows you to enjoy your music wherever you go.

An MP3 player is a wonderful device for listening to music on the go. This type of player is smaller than a cassette or CD player, allowing for increased portability. Many MP3 players are small enough that they don't interfere with physical activities such as jogging. A typical MP3 player can store hundreds or thousands of songs. You can upload more music onto the device from a computer and thereby customize your portable music collection.

Instructions

1. Download file management software compatible with your MP3 player. Most MP3 players have a specific program that is used for adding and deleting songs from the device. This software usually can be downloaded free from the manufacturer's website. Some third-party applications like RealPlayer work with many different MP3 player models.

2. Connect your MP3 player to a USB port on your computer using the appropriate data cable. Many MP3 players come with a special cable specific to the device; others accept standard mini-USB connectors.

3. Confirm that your computer detects the MP3 player. A notification will pop up on the computer's desktop or the player will appear in the software. If neither occurs, unplug and reconnect the player. If this does not work, reboot your computer. If a CD came with your MP3 player, it may contain a driver that needs to be installed so that your computer can detect the device.

4. Select the option on the software that allows you to add music to the MP3 player. On iTunes, this is the drop-down menu item "Add File/Folder to Library..." On many programs, you can simply drag and drop files from the computer to the MP3 player's library.

5. Sync your MP3 player with the computer software. On some programs, you need to click a "Sync" button to accomplish this. Other applications do this automatically.
