It's time to round up the gang and get everyone down to the Soda Shop for a night of hoppin' with the greasers crew and bobby sockers. Poodle skirts, rock and roll and classic cars define a time in history full of fun and swing. Planning a 50's party is easy and is an entertaining way to cruise down memory lane.
Instructions
1. Create a guest list with friends who will rock around the clock celebrating the fabulous 50's. Send out a 50's style invitation to invite them to a rock'n good time of fun, food, and rock and roll. A 50's style invitation could be a mini record, a fountain soda, diner menu or a jukebox. Invite them to come dressed in classic styles of Pink Lady Jackets, poodle skirts, rolled up jeans and slick hair. Watch the times roll back as your guests arrive.
2. Decorate in black, white and hot pink. Props can include, balloons, black cut outs of sock hoppers, sunglasses, vinyl records, classic cars, guitars, soda bottles and music notes. Also, it would be fun to have a classic car at your party for your guests to take a photo and keepsake. Create a complete atmosphere with 50's rock and roll. A jukebox could be a fun prop and could play classic songs to rock the night away.
3. Make enjoyable diner goodies for your sock hop: Burger and fry baskets, soda pops and milkshakes. For a true diner experience, serve your guests while delivering their meal on roller skates.
4. Enjoy the night with 50's fun and entertainment. Play 50s trivia! Also, Karaoke and a sock hop dance off would also make your 50's party extra memorable.
5. Have a costume contest. Pass out pre-made voters ballets to all of your guests so that they can vote on the best dressed person or couple. Once all votes are cast, determine the winner. Award the winner with a fun 50's style prize. A great 50's prize could be a classic record, new pair of bobby socks or a can of aerosol hairspray or hair gel.
