50's-themed sock hops can be fun and entertaining parties. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the fun trip back in time to the rocking 1950's. The key to planning a good party is in the details. Look below for more information on throwing the perfect sock hop party.
Instructions
1. Decorate your sock hop. Renting a jukebox or simply making a prop that looks like one is a great way to set the mood. Balloon arches, records and 50's music posters are also good decoration ideas.
2. Plan activities for your sock hop. Try a dance contest or play "name that tune." You could even make poodle skirts. Tell people to wear the craziest socks they can find and have a contest.
3. Create great invitations. Use old records and cover the label with the time, date, and location of your sock hop party. If you can't find old records just cut round shapes out of black poster board.
4. Provide a classic 50's meal. Hamburgers, hot dogs and fries make simple and fast meals that fit with the theme. Just be sure to provide ketchup, soda and lots of napkins. Plan on being prepared for seconds.
5. Add party favors to the tables. Use sunglasses as napkin rings by tucking the napkin inside the fold, or get a set of cola glasses and let each guest take one home. Inflatable instruments such as guitars, trumpets and more also make great party favors for your 50's sock hop.
