Enjoy a drink with an older crowd in Sacramento.
Tired of going to bars where rowdy crowds of college students ruin your mood? If so, Sacramento has plenty of places meant for an older clientele. Choose between swanky jazz bars and gourmet lounges, or perhaps a more neighborhood-oriented spot for a good burger and a beer.
Back Door Lounge
A favorite spot for local lawyers and politicians, the Back Door Lounge is an intimate jazz and cocktail bar for a sophisticated, middle-age crowd. The decor is red velvet with comfortable lounge furniture and touches of gold, while black-and-white photos and jazz art adorn the walls. A jukebox plays swanky jazz tunes reminiscent of the Rat Pack and the 1920s New York scene, while occasional entertainment includes unusual karaoke singers and pianists. Martinis and other cocktails are well-mixed, and the menu offers a good variety of spirits; beer is not Back Door's specialty, as there is only one on tap.

Stoney Inn/Rockin Rodeo
Stoney Inn, also known as Stoney's Rockin Rodeo, is a neighborhood blues bar and grill with a gritty, biker feel. While there is a mixed clientele, the average patron is middle-aged, with some even in their 60s or older. Local bands play rock, alternative and blues, with resident group Beer Dawgs playing dirty blues on weekend nights. An enclosed patio area is available for smoking and provides a great place to view the live acts. Stoney's menu features a variety of classic appetizers and grill items including burgers, steaks and chicken. Go early on Fridays and Saturdays for free line-dance lessons at 7:30 p.m.
