Specifications Of The Hewlett packard Pavilion A520n

The HP Pavillion a520n came bundled with a keyboard, but not a monitor.


The Pavilion a520n is a desktop computer released by Hewlett-Packard in March of 2004. The computer is part of HP's a500 line of desktop computers, which includes dozens of different models. The a520n was sold in both the United States and Canada. It was bundled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system, and included a one-year parts and labor warranty. The a520n has since been discontinued.


Processor, Memory and Storage


The Pavilion a520n shipped with the AMD Athlon XP 3200 processor, clocked at 2.20 GHz. The processor is built on the NVIDIA nForce2 IGP chipset and features 256 KB of L2 cache and a 400 MHz front-side bus speed. The a520n features an ASUS A7N8V-LA Socket A motherboard, re-branded by HP as the "Explorer4-GL6E." Base models of the computer came with 512 MB of PC2700 DDR RAM. RAM was upgradeable to a maximum of 1 GB via two DIMM slots. For storage, base models of the Pavilion a520n came with one 160 GB 7200 RPM hard drive.


Multimedia


Graphics on standard models of the Pavilion a520n are handled by an NVIDIA nForce2 integrated graphical processing unit. The GPU features 64 MB of shared memory. Sound is handled by an integrated AC97 audio card capable of outputting in 5.1 channel surround sound. The a520n came standard with a 3.5-inch floppy drive, as well as a combination CD and DVD writable drive capable of writing CDs at up to 16X, and DVDs at up to 4X. The a520n also features a 9-in-1 multimedia card reader. The card reader is compatible with Compact Flash I and II, Secure Digital, MicroDrive, SmartMedia, MMC, Memory Stick, xD, and Memory Stick Pro memory cards.


Connectivity and Expansion


The Pavilion a520n features both an integrated 56K data and fax modem, as well as an integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet port for connecting to the Internet or a local area network. Internally, the a520n has three PCI, two DIMM, and one AGP 8X expansion slot, as well as four drive bays. Externally, the front of the a520n offers one USB 2.0 port, one IEEE 1394 port, as well as one each of headphone, line-in, and microphone jacks. On the rear of the tower are located four USB 2.0 ports, two PS/2 ports, and one of each of the following ports: IEEE 1394, serial, parallel, LAN, VGA, line-in, line-out and microphone.


Bundled Software


Along with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, the Pavilion a520n came bundled with a number of software titles. Among these were RecordNow 6.5, WinDVD SE 4.0, MUSICMATCH Jukebox 8.0, HP Image Zone Plus, MSN Encarta Plus and a 60-day trial of Norton AntiVirus 2004.
