Sync A Music Player Using Itunes

Use the iPod's earbuds to listen to music you synced with iTunes.

Take your entire MP3 music collection with you wherever you go with your iPod, Apple's portable media player. Apple designed its iTunes music management software---available as a free download from Apple's website (see Resources)---to sync directly with the iPod player to quickly transfer your media between your computer and the player.

Instructions

1. Open the iTunes software. On a Mac, double-click "Macintosh HD" on your desktop and locate the iTunes icon from within your Applications folder. On a Windows-based PC, locate iTunes from within the Start menu in the lower left corner of the screen.

2. Connect the iPod MP3 player to your computer by inserting the wide end into the bottom of the iPod. The side of the cable labeled with a gray rectangle will face up. Insert the opposite end into any available USB port on your computer.

3. Click the iPod's icon in the left column of the iTunes software. A summary screen of the iPod's settings and contents will appear in the right window of iTunes. Click each of the tabs at the top of the window to set the iPod player's syncing settings for the respective media types. For example, the "Music" tab lists syncing options for your MP3 tracks (e.g. sync all of the songs, sync only specific playlists, or don't sync at all).

4. Push "Apply" once you're done setting your syncing options. The iPod will sync with iTunes and transfer your media from your computer to your iPod in accordance with your customized settings.
