The Easiest Method To Remove Undesirable Programs On New Laptops

When you purchase a new computer, it comes with several preinstalled programs. These preinstalled programs may include Google Toolbar, AOL and MusicMatch Jukebox. Programs take up space and thus you may want to remove them. There are several ways to remove a program from your computer. For example, you can remove each file associated with the program manually or you can remove the program by using the Registry Editor. Both of these methods are risky, as deleting the wrong file or registry entry can seriously impair your computer. The steps below outline the best way to remove a program.

Instructions

1. Hold down the "Windows" key and press "R." Alternatively, you can click on the "Start" menu and then click "Run."

2. Type "appwiz.cpl" (without the quotation marks) into the Run box and click "OK." The Uninstall or Change a Program window opens.

3. Scroll down the list of programs and locate any unwanted programs. Next to each program, you will see the name of the publisher, the date the program was installed, and the size of the program. This information can help you determine if you want to remove the program.

4. Click on a program you want to remove and then click "Uninstall." Or, if you are using an operating system prior to Windows Vista, click on a program you want to remove and then click "Change/Remove." Do this for every program you want to remove.

5. Restart your computer. Some programs cannot be fully removed until you restart your computer.
