Connect your speakers together for a fuller sound using a 4-ohm load. We'll walk you through the steps for achieving this connection.
Instructions
1. Check the ohm output/input of your amplifier and speakers. You will need an amplifier that can handle at least 4 ohms. Your speakers also must be able to handle at least 4 ohms per speaker.
2. Calculate the ohm outputs of your speakers and amp system. You will need two 8-ohm speakers, four 16-ohm speakers or a combination.
3. Hook up your speakers in parallel mode. You will need two wires that have split connections on the speaker ends. This will vary according to how many speakers you will be using. For example, if you have two 8-ohm speakers, you will need two split cables: one cable for positive input into your speakers and another split cable for the negative output to your amplifier.
4. Connect the (non-split) end on of your cables to the positive output on your amplifier. Hook one of the split cables into the positive input of one of your speakers. Hook the other end of the split cable into the positive input of the second speaker.
5. Attach the negative split ends to the negative outputs on your speakers. Connect the merged negative cable into the negative input on the back of your amplifier. Turn on your amplifier and test your speakers at a low volume.
