Utica has a range of clubs for a night out.
Utica, a working-class community in upstate New York, is known for its children's museum and the Hotel Utica, where many famous guests, from Mae West to Dick Cheney, have stayed. But Utica also has a nightlife scene that is often overlooked. If you want to go to a club in the Mohawk Valley region of New York state, look no farther than Utica.
Space 26
DJs at Space 26 play vinyl only.
Space 26 is upscale and has prices to match. But if you find yourself craving a classy night out on the town in Utica, Space 26 is highly regarded as the place to be.
The music at Space 26 is DJ'd and often includes electro and jazz. Sometimes the club will do an 80s night or a disco theme, during which the music is carefully curated to match the era. All DJs here spin vinyl--no iPods or computers to be found.
Drinks are a little above average in cost for the area, but they are also above average in strength and taste. Locals flock to this upscale club and lounge on weekends. Be warned: it does get crowded. The popularity of this place, however, is well deserved.

Electric Company
Jukeboxes at the Electric Company are very popular.
When the sun goes down in Utica and you find yourself craving a relaxed night out, seek out the Electric Company. Conveniently located in downtown Utica, this club is the relaxed reveler's spot to be.
Music is generally supplied by the retro-cute jukeboxes. On certain nights, you may be able to catch live local bands and music acts. Either way, the music choices are eclectic and enjoyable.
Beer is the drink of choice at the Electric Company, although mixed drinks are available as well. This club is very social and is a great place for mingling and people-watching. There is also a good deal of dancing, but this is a no-pressure spot; there are as many people standing around as there are shaking their groove things. Prices are reasonable for the area, and daily specials are available to sweeten the deal.
In addition to drink specials and a relaxed atmosphere, the Electric Company is also its own sort of rec center, complete with wood floors and brick walls. For those with a competitive spirit, the Electric Company is the proud owner of a very popular dart board, and a pool table and foosball are also available. In short, the Electric Company is a party in your best friend's basement--except much hipper.

Encore Lounge
Encore Lounge is known for its comfortable lounging.
Located in the local Radisson Hotel, Encore Lounge is a fan favorite. Known for its excellent and carefully choreographed grouping of microbrews, Encore Lounge has reasonably inexpensive drinks and a full bar. There is a small but decent food menu as well. If you stop by on a Friday from 5 p.m to 7 p.m., you will be greeted with a happy hour that boasts drink specials and complimentary food items.
Encore Lounge has a packed bar area and tables, but its most popular feature is its comfy lounge area. Big screen TVs and soft chairs and couches are what keep regulars coming back. There, you can sip your drinks and talk to the many friendly locals who call Encore Lounge one of their favorite places.
Music is quiet and unassuming. The real sound draw here is the TVs. You can come to the Encore Lounge with realistic expectations of a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
