Trobleshoot and fix A Nomad Jukebox

MP3 Player

The NOMAD Jukebox is a portable audio player and recorder capable of supporting multiple file formats, including MP3 and WAV. Its features include six GB of storage space, eight MB of DRAM memory, four 1/8-inch stereo minijack ports (one for line input, two for line output and one for headphones) and a 132 x 64 pixel LCD display. If your NOMAD Jukebox fails to function as desired, you may be able to find the underlying problem by following certain troubleshooting procedures.

Instructions

Power Problems

1. Examine the underside of your NOMAD Jukebox and locate the battery cover. Slide the battery cover off of the device and remove the installed batteries. Examine the batteries to confirm that they are NiMH; the Jukebox is not designed for use with alkaline, NiCd or other types of battery and may not function as desired if such batteries are installed.

2. Re-insert the batteries into the Jukebox. Examine the diagram on printed inside the battery bay to confirm that you have the batteries properly aligned during installation. Replace the battery cover and slide it back until you feel it snap into place.

3. Examine the rear panel of the Jukebox and find the power jack, located near the right edge. Plug in the AC adapter and connect the remaining end to a nearby electrical outlet. Allow the Jukebox to charge for a minimum of four hours (if it is your first time using the device, allow 12 hours of charging time instead).

Resetting

4. Plug the Jukebox's AC adapter into the power port and connect the remaining end to a nearby electrical outlet.

5. Examine the underside of the Jukebox and find the reset hole, located to the left of the "Creative" label. Straighten out your paper clip, then insert one end of the paper clip into the reset hole. Apply pressure until you feel the reset button depress.

6. Return the Jukebox to an upright position and find the "play" button, located in the center of the device. Hold down the "play" button until the device turns back on.

Updating Firmware

7. Examine the rear panel of the Jukebox and locate the USB port. Plug one end of a USB cable into this port, then connect the remaining end to any available USB port on your computer. Plug in the Jukebox's AC adapter and connect it to a nearby electrical outlet. If necessary, press and hold the "Play" button to turn on your Jukebox.

8. Turn on your computer and log into Windows. Open your web browser and navigate to the firmware download page for the NOMAD Jukebox. Click on the "Download" link and save the updater to your computer. Close your web browser.

9. Launch the updater application and follow the onscreen instructions.
