Un-install Programs With Regedit

Sometimes it is not possible to remove or uninstall a software application from your computer through conventional methods. When this is the case, you can use an alternate means of removal through the computer system's registry. This method requires some editing, so you will need the Microsoft registry editor, which is a tool Microsoft provides that allows you to edit the registry with ease.

Instructions

1. Click on the desktop's "Start" button to open up the "Start" menu.

2. Click on the "Run" icon to open the "Run" dialog box. Type and enter "regedit" into the "Run" text field and click on the "OK" button. The Microsoft Registry Editor will open.

3. Go to the following registry in the left-hand pane of the editor:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi

on\Uninstall."

Open the "Uninstall" folder by double-clicking it.

4. Choose the program that you plan to uninstall then double-click the "uninstallstring" file located in the right-hand pane of the editor. Press the "Ctrl" and "C" keys on the keyboard simultaneously to copy the information contained in the "Value Data" box.

5. Click on the desktop's "Start" button and click on "Run." Type and enter "cmd" into the "Run" text field and click "OK." The "Command" prompt will open.

6. Enter the copied data from the "Value Data" box in Step 4 into the "Command" prompt by pasting in the data. Press "Enter" to complete removal.
